About me
I live near Toronto, Ontario with my amazing and supportive husband who is my #1 recipe taste-tester. We have two adult daughters who are on their own but always come home hungry for homemade meals, treats and taste-testing. The newest addition to our family is our daughter’s goldendoodle puppy named Link.
I was born to Italian immigrant parents who shared love with traditional Italian and Mediterranean food made with fresh ingredients harvested from their own garden. I was the one child who always followed my parents around in the kitchen and garden. I learned to cook by example and definitely inherited the Italian gene of feeding people with wholesome homemade food.
Many of the recipes are inspired by my Italian background, but you’ll also find traditional classics from many ranges of cuisines. No matter which category they fall into, they’re always delicious!
I love to cook and bake and believe food should always be fresh and full of flavour. For this reason I always cook with fresh seasonal ingredients, colourful ingredients and unique accents that bring out the best flavours. In summer months I enjoy spending time in my little herb and vegetable garden. I also enjoy frequenting farmers markets, food stores and kitchen shops always seeking ingredients or gadgets that will fuel my kitchen creativity.
My favourite everyday ingredients to use in savoury cooking are garlic, olive oil, lemons, balsamic vinegar, tomatoes, fresh herbs and all kinds of cheese (Parmesan being my favourite). For baking it’s butter, lemons, fresh fruit, almonds, coconut and chocolate!
Why I’m called “The Kitchen Fairy”
When my daughters moved away for university, they realized home-cooked meals were a luxury. Our kitchen at home was magical – every day it was replenished with healthy homemade food. This never happened in their student apartments! The girls began calling me “The Kitchen Fairy” and the name just stuck.
Blog beginnings
I started this food blog in 2017 for a place to share my collection of favourite and trustworthy recipes and haven’t stopped since then! This is a site to bookmark; here you can browse, be inspired and learn how to create easy and incredibly delicious food with everyday ingredients in your own kitchen.
On any given day you can find me in my bright sunny kitchen cooking up something scrumptious for my family or guests. I dream up new recipes all the time and love sharing my recipes and my food. I’m a bit obsessed with creative presentation and food styling; for this reason you can be assured each recipe comes with meticulously styled photos all shot with my iPhone.
